The makeover of our guest bedroom is finally starting to take shape. Considering we’ve been working on this room on and off for about a year it’s about time that the finishing line is in sight!

We’ve sanded the floor, added panelling and painted everywhere (more on that soon), we gave our bed a much-needed update, built a herringbone desk, had the electrics updated and have a super comfortable new mattress (we’ll be sharing the details of that soon, too!).
It’s still not quite ready to host Airbnb guests but with the finishing line in sight, we can finally start to turn our attention to the prettier things and now have some pretty and useful new bedroom accessories!

If you’ve been following us for a while, you’ll already know that practicality and function are always things that are at the top of our priority list but that doesn’t mean that I don’t want things to be pretty, too!
Luckily, you don’t always have to compromise and we definitely didn’t have when choosing products that would make the space better for our guests.

We now have a fab new paper bin for our desk area, a super practical luggage rack, an alarm clock and a really fun plant pot!
I love all of the things we chose for different reasons. It’s admittedly difficult to get excited about a waste bin but this one is as pretty as they come. It’s surprisingly sturdy and I love the way the light inner timber contrasts with the dark outside. (It’s available in different colours, too.)

The alarm clock feels is perfect for people like me who don’t function in the mornings. I love that the numbers are really large and are easily readable even in a half-asleep state.

I’d been on the lookout for a luggage rack for a while and this is by far the prettiest one we came across. It’s so practical! So much so, that I totally admit that it might find its way into our bedroom as Jan currently has to travel a lot for work.

As much as I love all of these products, we saved the best, or at least the most fun, till last! Meet Terry Triceratops! (Yes, I gave my plant pot a name!)

Isn’t he fab?
I’m not much of a dinosaur fan but this Tricerapot Planter was just too fun to resist! He definitely adds a touch of whimsy to the otherwise quite minimal space.

As you can see, we’re so close to finishing our guest bedroom! The last big thing on our list is finding some (affordable) curtains. We’re still planning on opening our Airbnb this August (at the latest) and I can’t wait to host our first guests and share this fun room and our new accessories with them!
What accessories do you think are a must in a (guest) bedroom? Do you love our new Triceratops planter as much as we do?
