It’s already almost February (how did that happen?!) and it’s not long now until we get the keys to our new home! Yay! We’re already busy planning loads of projects and inevitably have a to-do list that’s much longer than we’d like. Weirdly this also means that life is starting to feel normal again!
With all of this planning and a lot of boring paperwork going on, I couldn’t help distracting myself and had some fun creating these cute DIY cake gift boxes!

Making these cake gift boxes is really quick and easy and even I couldn’t manage to screw up the baking of this cake!
You probably don’t really even need a tutorial because they’re so straightforward but here’s a quick guide just in case you’d like to see the steps involved.

This is what you will need to make your own DIY Cake Gift Boxes:

- Free Cake Box Printable (you can download it here)
- Paper & Printer
- Craft knife or scissors
- Double sided tape or glue
- Treats to fill your boxes with!
This is how to make the DIY Cake Gift Boxes:
#1 Download the free printable and print it onto some paper. There are four different cake gift box designs to choose from.
The printable is scaled to A4 so that you can easily print it on your home printer. If you would like a larger box you could print it on a larger sheet of paper and make one huge slice of cake!

Tip: The smaller the item you’re printing is the thinner the paper can be. We usually use thickish paper or card but if you’re folding something that’s small (like these boxes) it’s easier to fold clean lines if the paper is thinner.
#2 When you’ve printed the templates cut out the boxes with a craft knife or scissors. Then lightly score along the dashed lines and fold the box.

#3 Stick some double-sided tape on the flaps (you could just use glue if you wanted to) and glue it together – don’t forget to leave one side open so that you can fill the boxes!

I filled the boxes with mostly sweets but you can add anything you’d like!

With Valentine’s Day coming up these would make great little gifts. You could add small presents, homemade vouchers for things like a massage or a romantic meal, cinema tickets or anything else you’d like.

Although Jan and I don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day this is definitely the kind of cake I’d like to receive!
Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? What’s the most romantic gift you’ve ever received? (Mine was some socks – long story!) What’s your favourite holiday?
PS. You can check out some of our other free printables here. If you do decide to make these boxes or anything else you’ve seen here we’d love to see it. Use #littlehouseonthecorner to tag your photos so that we can see your projects!
If you like this project, you will love these ones, too!
