It’s hard to believe but we’ve already been living in Berlin for 4.5 years!
It honestly blows my mind at how quickly time passes and it feels like yesterday that we were living in Manchester, going about our normal day to day DIY lives and dodging the notorious Manchester weather.
If you’d told me that we’d be living in an amazing apartment in the centre of Berlin just a couple of years later, I would have thought you were bonkers. There’s no denying that the last few years have been a huge adventure and there are even more absolutely epic changes to come! If you follow us on Instagram, you’ll already know what I’m on about…
We’ve sold our apartment!
No this isn’t an April fool gone wrong, we really have sold our apartment!
But wait, that’s not the only news we have to share!
We’re also starting a vlog! So head over to YouTube to take the first ever video tour of our apartment and give us a follow! I’m working on lots of great DIY tutorials, a current house tour and behind the scenes videos at the moment so it’s really worth subscribing now so you don’t miss any (hopefully much better) videos in the future!
It’s also pretty safe to say that there will be lots of changes around here over the next couple of months (hopefully with minimal stress-related meltdowns) there to keep you updated about the big changes happening around here!
But back to our apartment…
I know you probably have loads of questions, and we promise that we’ll share all of the details over the next few weeks. It’s been an absolute whirlwind and we’re still coming to terms with the magnetude of what has happened.
There have been and will be a lot of changes around here but are a few things we do know.
We signed the contracts last year and had less than 4 weeks we have to plan & organise a move and pack up everything to move to a new home.
The Berlin rental market is super competitive and you generally view rental apartments with about 30 other interested parties and have to go through a rather competitive interview process to even be considered. There have been cases of over 1000 people turn up for a single viewing!
Luckily, we have managed to find somewhere to live and we’ll be sharing all of the details as soon as we’re a bit more settled and I’ve finally got round to taking some pictures!
Ultimately, the plan is to buy a new home but there was no chance of us being able to do that in the short timeframe we had so we’ll definitely be renting for a while.
The one thing that is certain, is that our next longterm home will be another renovation project! We absolutely love DIY and can’t imagine living anywhere where we’re not able to put our own stamp on things. We also love a challenge and I have a feeling our next project will be one that involves a lot of full-on building work!
We’ll be sharing all of the details of why we decided to sell our dream home along with all of our plans for the future as soon as we have a better idea of what is happening!
Don’t forget that we’ll also be documenting our new home and house hunting process over on YouTube, so pop over there and give us a follow to keep updated on our, probably very turbulent, next few months and see all of the behind the scenes chaos!
Did you think that was the news we were going to share? Had you expected us to move so quickly? What kind of home do you think we should move into next?
