With so many big and dirty building projects going on around here, it’s sometimes nice to work on something a bit prettier and much less dusty for a change.
We love to brighten up our home with personal art, and this button picture was quick & easy to make.
We opted for the letter J (as in Jan – whose name actually is pronounced Yan). I have another idea for a similar version with my initial which I’ll be sharing with you – or at least I will as soon as I’ve made it!
But for now, back to this button art. After working out the rough size we wanted the letter to be, I printed a template as a guide for the buttons.
Then we just transferred the design onto a piece of white card and glued the buttons into place. That’s all there was to it!
Here’s what you will need to make one and our cost breakdown:
Ribba frame from Ikea – £3.50
Collections of Buttons – £5.00
Piece of Card & Superuser – Already Owned
Total Cost – £8.50
For now, we’ve decided to place it on one of our dining room shelves. Now that we use the room so much more, it’s about time that we make an effort to sort them out!
Do you have personalised art around the house? In addition to the buttons, we also glued a few badges that are personal to us (like our MoMa entrance buttons) on to the picture. Do you have a way of displaying holiday keepsakes and personal items?

It looks perfect next to your Harry Potter books, with the same colours as the covers!

Thanks Magali! I’d not even noticed how the colours are the same as in the books! Seems like everyone owns a set of Harry Potter books ;-)
