With the tiniest glimpse of our guest bedroom nearing completion, we can’t help ourselves and are already thinking ahead to the finishing touches of our room makeover. There are still a lot of little jobs to finish, but for the first time there’s an end in sight!
You may have already seen that we’ve already hung a few picture frames in the bedroom, but currently most of them are empty. With guests arriving next week, it’s about time that we put the room (including the bed) back together and maybe even have a picture or two in the frames.
I’ve seen some amazing house portraits on Etsy and Folksy, and whilst I’m under no illusion that ours probably shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same sentence as those amazing artworks, I couldn’t resist having a go painting my own.
I actually painted it a few weeks ago, but couldn’t decide if I liked it enough to frame it and let people see it – let alone share it with the rest of the world! But, after a bit of encouragement from Jan, here it is!
We’ve been looking forward to adding a few little more personal things and a painting of our house definitely fits into that category.
It’s not perfect – far from it, but at a distance it’s not too bad. At the end of the day it’s just for us, so I’m sure we’ll cope.
Have you ever painted a portrait of your home? Have you ever painted with watercolours? What personal touches do you like to add to your home?

When I finally find my dream home I’m taking a picture of it and sending it to you for a custom painting!! This is such an amazing idea for a personal touch, well done! xx

Goodness! You’re really talented, truly.
I’m glad Jan encouraged you to show us.
Christine says
That’s so kind, Mary! Still don’t feel it’s deserved – I’m probably my own worst critic! Cx

Love it. You could paint Murdu for us. X
Christine says
Thanks Pauline! Can’t remember what it looks like – think we’ll just have to invite ourselves over before I can get my paintbrushes out!

It looks really great! I can only hold a paint brush to paint a wall in a single colour, so I’m definitely impressed!
Christine says
That’s so kind, Magali! I think I should probably stick to painting walls, too. ;)
