If you’ve been following us for a while, you’ll probably know that we’re planning to convert our loft space into a bedroom and walk-in wardrobe with an en-suite bathroom. We’ve been going on about it for months (yep, we’re sick of hearing ourselves, too) but after more than a few setbacks, we’re finally on track!

Whilst there is still a ridiculous amount of building work to be done, we’re at least getting to grips with planning the details, choosing materials and finishes. Inevitably, the area in need of most attention, is the en-suite bathroom. It’s a really small room, which makes planning the details even more important.

Getting way ahead of ourselves, we already came up with a rough design for the en-suite over a year ago, but, keeping true to our usual form, we’re now thinking we might change a few things. We’d love to it to have a luxurious feel and whilst we’re obviously still keeping a close eye on the budget, we are going to try to indulge a bit, too. It’s such a tiny room, so a few special touches will hopefully go a long way.
One of the things we’re most excited about, is that thanks to the kind people over at Warmup, we’re going to have underfloor heating in the bathroom! With a total floor area of 3.3 m² it’s an absolutely tiny room, so adding some touches like underfloor heating will definitely make it feel much more luxurious. The underfloor heating mats can even be laid right into the shower, so we’ll have nice warm feet even when showering!
Apparently installing the underfloor heating is so easy that even a DIYer can do it, but they do offer a 24 hour helpline in case anything you need to ask for advice or help. Not only that, it has lifetime warranty, too! There is loads of information and even little installation videos on the Warmup website, so it already feels like we’re in good hands.

We’re so excited to be starting with this project! The thought of having a warm bathroom this winter – or actually even this summer as it’s so wet and cold – is just so exciting! We can’t wait! Of course we’ll be sharing all of our progress including the installation and our first showering experience with warm feet (okay, well, maybe not the showering!) with you right here!
Do you have any luxury touches in your bathroom? Is there anything you’d recommend? Do you have underfloor heating?

We redid our master bathroom last year and what I adore are:
heated towel rack
twin medicine cabinets (no sharing!)
super quiet ventilation system
kitchen height and depth cabinets (less splashing for tall people)
glass shower door that swings in and out
seat in the shower
grab bar in shower (amazing how it helps when washing feet!)
White/light gray/medium gray scheme – right now I have bright red accents, but that could change to yellow next year and cobalt the year after.

Sounds like the perfect bathroom, Ann! We’d definitely like a heated towel rack, too. I love the idea of no sharing cabinets, not sure if we would have enough room – definitely worth considering though!
Thanks for the tips!
