Way back in October (yes, it’s taken me that long to find time to edit our hundreds of photos) we hopped on a plane and had a fabulous two-week break in Andalucia!
As this was our first holiday in almost two years (other than the odd weekend break like our trip to Ljubljana or Vienna) all we really wanted to do was rest and relax. Inevitably though, we couldn’t resist a bit of sightseeing and the south of Spain has a huge amount to offer.
There was another reason for our trip though which I admit that I’d been keeping quiet about. It was my birthday and I turned 40! But, as I’m pretty sure no one wants to hear about my wrinkles or grey hair, here are a few of the fun things we got up to in Andalucia!
We spent a few days exploring Seville, went on a Segway tour through Malaga, ate way too many Pinchos in Marbella, Jan went diving (because he always will if there’s water close by) and we ventured all the way up to Ronda with its spectacular views over the surrounding countryside.
Generally though, we spent as much time as possible relaxing in the sun, along with drinking more than our fair share of Vino Tinto (red wine) and eating too much delicious food. Overall though we just enjoyed spending time together as Jan has been working away a lot recently.
The south of Spain has so much to offer and it was absolutely lovely to discover parts of Spain that we’d not seen before.
Needless to say, we had an amazing time! There’s still so much to see and do and we already can’t wait to visit again soon (not least because we couldn’t get into the Alcazar in Seville)!
The only thing that I could have done without is the cold welcome we got when we landed back in Berlin. -2°C is quite literally not the warmest welcome to come home to!
Have you ever been to Spain or Andalucia? We’re already planning our next trip including a few days in Grenada to visit the Alhambra. We’d love to know if you have any travel and sightseeing tips for us!
