If you follow us on Instagram or Facebook, you’ll already know that I recently spent a fab morning at the Shargri-La hotel in the Shard in London taking part in British Gypsum’s Rooms For You Event.

It was such a treat spending the morning in a great location and meeting some amazing bloggers (I felt like a bit of an imposter amongst such talent!), and to top it all off, the new products by Rooms Made For You I got to see and test are totally fantastic, too!
As you know we just love knocking down walls around here, but something we inevitably have to do every now and then is put one up again and the new Lifestyle Wall is the ideal solution.

For me, the lifestyle wall seemed like the logical evolution of normal plasterboard. Essentially it’s a board that not only looks like plasterboard, it’s used in the same way, too.
The big difference, however, is that it’s much sturdier than standard plasterboard. Each screw that you screw into it can hold up to 15kg in weight and you don’t even need to use wall plugs or pre-drill any holes – just get your screw and screw into the wall!
I totally admit, that as frequent DIYers it feels so wrong to just be screwing into a lightweight wall and expecting anything to hold – but it does and it’s amazing. If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I’d probably still be sceptical, but it really worked. It’s also more resistant to knocks so perfect for high traffic areas.

No more worrying that your shelf is going to fall down as soon as you actually put something on it or that that mirror is going to come crashing off the wall. Best of all no more messing around looking for studs if you want to attach something heavier – just screw where you want to. The shelves on this beautifully styled image are just attached with a few screws! Amazing, right?
Having seen it, I honestly can’t imagine ever using normal plasterboard again!
The second amazing product by Rooms Made For You is Magnetic Plaster.
Now, having tried magnetic paints before, I admit that I wasn’t expecting a huge amount from this product, but I couldn’t have been more wrong!
Where magnetic paints just didn’t seem to have the necessary strength to actually hold a magnet, this magnetic plaster does exactly what you want it to!

The plaster itself is applied in the same way that you’d apply a traditional skim coat of plaster and when it’s dry, you can paint over and decorate it like you would any other wall – but of course now stick magnets to it.
I so wish this product had existed sooner. Sure it would be perfect for any kids room but for us, it would be great on our office or on our walls in the kitchen… who am I kidding, I’d cover my whole house in it if I could. The flexibility that it gives you is just amazing.
You can even attach whole pictures in picture frames to it. When we finally get round to replacing and renovating our kitchen this is definitely on our must-have wish list.

The last product in British Gypsum’s new range of fab products is called Slient Floor – and it’s exactly that. I guess floors aren’t one of the most glamourous of subjects, but having something like this in your home can make such a huge difference to your quality of life. The silent floor is definitely worth considering if you’re planning a cinema room or music room – or if you just like to block out some of the sounds from noisy kids or neighbours.
Thank you so much for Rooms Made For You for inviting me to take part in this fantastic event! If you want to find out more about these fantastic products you can head over to the Rooms Made For You website where you can get more information.
