We’re now well into the New Year, so it’s probably long overdue that we share the gifts that we received with you.
This year we decided to treat ourselves to a very indulgent present. So much so, that it is our gift to each other. We usually don’t spend a huge amount on gifts for each other, but as it’s for the house and should last for a long, long time, we decided that we could justify it. We’ll fill you in on all the details about it soon.
In addition to our main gift, we got each other some small presents, just to have something to unwrap under the tree. As much fun as it is surprising others with gifts, it’s just not the same if you don’t have anything to tear apart, too.
Jan got me a new hair brush; my old one was too disgusting for words. The new brush is meant to smooth and straighten hair.
As a break from our constant DIY efforts and work Jan likes to relax by playing PlayStation (not that he ever gets much chance), so I got him a new game as well as some new aftershave.
Admittedly our presents to each other this year were really not very creative, but our large present to each other is so special, that we couldn’t justify much else.
We also received some other amazing gifts of our generous friends and family. Like this fantastic fondue set.
We had put it on our imaginary “if money was no object list” that we shared with you a few weeks ago (you can read about it here), never thinking that we would actually end up owning such a luxury item. We already owned the little bowls for the turntable, so now we have a full and ready to go set. I’m starting to feel hungry just writing about it.
Two of our friends we visited over the Christmas period made us this amazing Christmas decoration.
It has a bulb in the centre, so gives of a fantastic glow in the dark. Yep, you heard right, made it! And to top it all off, they also made these chocolates.
Yep, you heard right, made them! The best bit is that they are delicious, too!
Other presents also included a new umbrella (Jan conveniently forgot his on the train home from work a day before Christmas) and two lovely handmade picture calendars with photos of our families.
Not too sure how I feel about having to see myself for a whole month though!
We have admittedly already scoffed a few other presents including a huge bag of sweets from some of our other lovely friends. They were delicious, although sadly most of them didn’t last longer than the drive home. We’re such pigs, I know…
Thanks again for such lovely gifts and more importantly a lovely Christmas time spent together!
Did you get any amazing Christmas gifts – or any awful ones? I’m one of those weird people who prefer to give gifts than receive them. Are you the same?
