We live in a mess. Yep, I’ve said written it – a complete mess. Okay, so our photos usually don’t look too bad, but believe me, they can be deceptive. We usually push things around and hide things so they aren’t in view.
Today we’ll be sharing one of our dirty (and messy) little secrets with you. If you’re squeamish you’d better look away now! Don’t say you’re not been warned!
This is our bedroom 2 linen cupboard. Except for the huge pile of boxes on top it doesn’t look too bad, but the inside is a different matter.
We inherited the cupboard of Jan’s Aunt and Uncle and until now, we have just filled it with junk and bits and pieces that otherwise would have been lying around. Before we had it delivered, it had been in storage and, as we had no time at all, we just put it together without even bothering to clean it! If you think that that’s bad, you should see the inside!
It’s such a mess! Narnia could be at the back of it and we’d never know! Well enough is enough!
We’ve been very busy sorting and clearing out everything and, not wanting to put you all through hours of sorting, cleaning and clearing, here’s a quick recap
What a shame sorting it wasn’t quite as quick as in the GIF.
You can see that we’ve also recovered the shelves with some coloured paper. The paper is actually travel themed wrapping paper.
We just cut it to size and used some tape to secure it to the shelf. It was very quick and easy to do and it’s lovely to have a pop of colour when you open the cupboard’s doors!
The pink paper is a map of Paris
the green paper is a map of London
and the blue is a map of New York.
The other maps are of Berlin, Sydney and Tokyo. We love to travel, so it’s nice to have a something travel related in our home. We might carry on the travel theme through the rest of the room.
Does a clean an organized home make you as happy as me? Do you have any tips for organizing a closet? Have you also started the year by having a clear out? Is a themed room a bad idea?
