As pretty as the wall now is, the project still wasn’t completely finished.
While we did eventually manage to remove the remaining concrete gate post and have the skip picked up, we still didn’t have the final piece needed to complete the new wall.
But now it’s officially completely and absolutely done – we have a pillar cap!
If you look really closely, you can see that our pillar cap is not exactly the same as the existing one on the other side, but considering they are both around 100 years old, it’s a pretty good match.
The only difference between the two is that the new one has an ever so slightly thicker base.
It was only a tiny final step, but for us, it means that it’s one huge finished project that we can completely cross off our long list! We obviously still need a gate, a new driveway and need to sort the garage & garage roof, but it’s definitely looking a lot better than it used to!
Although it’s not on our list of planned projects for 2014 we’d love to improve our garden this summer. It would be great to have an outdoor space that we can actually enjoy for a change! Over the last few years, we have already improved a few things out there, but we still have a ridiculous amount of jobs to tackle.
Do you have any outdoor projects planned for this year? Do you have a lovely garden that you can enjoy in the sun, or is it a complete building site like ours?
