Hohoho… yep, Christmas has finally arrived at our Little House On The Corner. This year our decorations are rather minimal and mainly in the living room. This is our Christmas mantel:
The snowflake light chain on the fireplace is from Ikea. The little LED’s use very little energy so the batteries last for ages. We have the lights on for about 6 hours a day (and have been up for about 10 days) and we are still on the first batteries.
Our his and hers Christmas stockings take pride of place on either side of the fireplace. I made them both last year. They took a long, long time to stitch, but hopefully they’ll be with us for many years to come.
My stocking is the one with Father Christmas checking his list. I just love the detail in the design. I’m sure we would have all loved a huge sack of presents like he has when we were children! I bought the stocking kit a few years ago, but you can still get it here: Dimensions Counted Cross Stitch Kit – Stocking, Checking His List.
Jan’s stocking is the one with the cat in a Christmas stocking. It’s not quite as detailed as mine, but still looks fab. Both stockings feel really luxurious and add a pop of colour to our room.
The paper star lights are also from Ikea. We have one small one which is stood next to the gingerbread house on the built in cupboard and one large one which is stood in the corner of the room. They both add a fabulous warm Christmassy glow to the room.
I love the colours of the baubles in the large vase and the wreath hanging in the centre of the mirror.
They go perfectly with the other colours in our room and the glitter adds a bit of Christmassy sparkle.
As you can see, we also already have a few Christmas cards from our lovely friends and neighbours.
That’s pretty much it this year, I just don’t seem to be able to get into the Christmas spirit. If you have any tips for helping me feel more Christmassy, let me know! It’s not long now…
