With the end of October fast approaching, it’s got to mean one thing – Halloween is just around the corner and we, of course, couldn’t help thinking of some quick and easy ways to add some fun Halloween decorations and spookiness to our home.
Halloween isn’t really a huge event in the UK and it’s celebrated even less here in Germany but we’ll use any excuse to get crafting and decorating!
This year’s theme (we don’t really do themes as such – it’s more of an idea that ties things together) is Hazardous Halloween.
Over the last few years of improving our house, we’ve definitely had to deal with our fair share of home improvement hazards so it was inevitable that something hazardous would creep into our Halloween decorations at some point!
As always we like to keep things as easy and straightforward as possible. Making your own decorations is fun, it doesn’t have to be complicated and it’s a great way to keep costs down, too! Every year we create a few new decorations and add them to our Halloween collection. Just give us about 20 years and we’ll have enough for a full blown party!
This year we’ve added two new additions to our collection of decorations – our DIY Halloween coasters and DIY Votive Candles. We’ll, of course, be sharing the free printables and guides on how to make them later this week (spoiler: they’re both ridiculously easy to make).
The scariest thing of all is probably that I baked a cake and that it was perfectly edible! Definitely a shocker! Needless to say, you’re not going to see me on the Great British Bake Off anytime soon but even if our Halloween cake doesn’t look overly inviting it actually tasted deliciously chocolatey (it’s a chocolate cake with buttercream frosting and salted caramel sauce in case you’re wondering).
The hangover I might have after drinking some of the crystal head vodka is also a pretty scary, though!
Do you decorate your home for Halloween? Do you like to make your own festive decorations?
