With the sun starting to make the odd appearance and in anticipation of some good weather at last, we got out our garden furniture over the weekend.
It’s looking a bit worse for wear as at the start of the winter we just dismantled it and shoved it into the garage. Even worse, we just left the bench outside for the whole of the winter – we’re such rebels.
Most of it isn’t too bad, but the bench that was outside for the whole year is really not looking too happy.
As part of trying to get our garden in order for the summer, we’re making a start by treating our garden furniture.
It’s a really easy and quick, but very effective thing to do. Basically we just rubbed over everything with some teak oil.
Because we’d not looked after our furniture and it was in a particularly poor state, we decided to give it all an extra helping and applied a generous extra second coat of the oil.
So now it’s gone from this dirty mess to this nicely treated, slightly shiny and definitely much healthier looking furniture.
Now all we need is some good weather and, fingers crossed, maybe even a bit of sunshine!
In the long run, we should really buy a proper cover to protect the wooden furniture. What can I say, it’s on the long list of things to do.
Are you doing anything to get your outside space ready for the summer?
