We’re still busy taking down the garden wall (you can read more about our latest efforts here). If you’re thinking it’s taking a ridiculous amount of time – you’re probably right. But in our defense, we’re only really working on it when the weather is good.
We’ve not been as lazy as it may seem though. As you all already know, we’re attempting to sort out as much of the garden as possible this year. Last week we already cut back the enormous buddleja bushes in our front garden.
I’m sure that they’ll be huge again by midsummer, but it’s definitely a huge improvement for now.
The only problem with cutting back the plants, is that it’s highlighted our rather sad looking fence.
Well, not any longer! This is our fence now.
What an amazing difference a bit of paint and a few hours of work can make. I wish all makeovers were as quick and easy as this!
I totally get that black fence paint isn’t for everyone, but we think the dark colour will be a good backdrop for the plants. What do you think of our fence colour?

Christine says
The colour is Black Ash by Cuprinol (Garden Shades Range). Have fun painting!

What an amazing difference! It will be a perfect back ground for the plants!

Thanks Magali! That’s what we thought, too. Now we just need the plants to grow a bit more ;-)

Ohh, I love the crisp contrast between the young green and the dramatic dark color of the fence! It’s amazing what a little paint can do – this looks like a brand-new fence!
Christine says
Thanks Micha! I wish I’d painted it ages ago – it’s always surprising that such little things can make such a difference.

I think it looks great! The black is fresh and the flowers and plants will stand out.

I like the fence color, it’s steel blue, that may not be the name of the paint itself but I think it’s the closest I can come to describing the color. Actually it looks like it’s the same color as the shirt he’s wearing in the picture!
Christine says
Haha, I’d not noticed that Jan’s top is the same colour as the fence!
