If you follow us on Instagram, you may have already seen that we put up most of our Christmas decorations and our tree weeks ago! I promise that we’ve not gone completely mad though!
As we won’t be seeing Jan’s parents this Christmas, they paid us a visit at the end of November for a short break and we decided to celebrate Christmas with them then. I’m sure all of our neighbours thought that we’d completely lost our minds when they saw us struggling with our never ending chain of fairy lights on the 24th November and if anyone caught a glimpse of us unwrapping our presents on the 30th November, I’m almost certain that we’d be labelled as completely insane, but bizarrely, to us it almost felt normal. After all, who doesn’t like unwrapping gifts at any time of year!
So, having had our decorations up for over 3 weeks now, it’s definitely about time that we shared them with you, too!
Not only is this the first Christmas that we’re actually spending in our home without travelling around visiting relatives, it’s also the first time that we’ve ever bought a Christmas tree! Having bought our first Christmas tree, it also of meant that we had to buy all decorations, too.
We don’t usually take ourselves too seriously, so why start at Christmas! So in addition to choosing a bunch of standard silver and a few teal baubles, we also allowed ourselves a bit of fun. And our favourites are these ones:
In addition to our tree, we have of course decorated our mantel, too.
Our new little tea light houses really work well on the mantel and as every year, we have our personalised stockings hanging there, too.
This year, thanks to Jan’s parents, we also have an advent calendar!
It’s lovely coming down the stairs in the morning and having a little surprise every day.
Have you finished your Christmas decorating? Have you ever celebrated an early Christmas with family members that couldn’t be there otherwise? Do you also have some ornaments that aren’t very traditional?
