First of all, sorry about our very erratic posting schedule lately. Things around here seem to have snowballed and we’re living a complete state of chaos. Everywhere is full of stuff and junk and it’s almost impossible to move around the house without bumping into something – I’ve got the bruises to prove it!
Now, if you think we’re exaggerating, just take a look at what our bedroom looks like
Bizarrely the photos don’t really show how bad it actually is! You can’t tell how dirty and dusty everywhere is!
We’re simultaneously tackling so many projects, that we sometimes don’t know where to start. Our tradespeople have let us down a few times, and with so many projects around here depending on others being finished we’re basically spending our days moving stuff around, cleaning up after people and hoping that things will be finished soon.
The rest of the house isn’t looking much better either! Because of the work we’re having done, we’ve had to clear out our two guest bedrooms – including our shameful one that was filled to the top with junk, tools and bits of DIY materials. Basically everything has been distributed around the rest of the house. Even the rooms that have been cleared are a mess!
This is the already cleared and tidied hallway in front of our office. Last week, we couldn’t even get into the room as it was completely blocked!
Although we can now squeeze past the clothes rail, things don’t get any better once we’re inside the room.
I think you’re starting to get the picture! What a mess, but it still get even worse!
Because we’re insulating our cellar, most of that has been cleared out, too. And, because the insulation boards are so big, we’re having to cut them down to size in the dining room!
At least we’ll have a few big improvements to share with you soon!
I really feel like I need to get back into our office to have a proper sit down and a few hours of constructive writing – not as I’ve unproductively been doing, sitting on the sofa with the TV on in the background watching the world go by through our large bay window.
This whole situation kind of got me thinking. Do you have a space where you work well? Are we the only ones that live in a mess while we tackle DIY projects? Do you have a way of keeping on top of things when you’re DIYing?
