Ever since seeing a fantastic Bloktagon candle tutorial on HomeMade Modern I’ve been dying to give making some of our own a try.
Well, we finally got round to it – and here’s the result!
We won’t go into too much detail on how to make them, because you can check out the full tutorial (including a great video) over at HomeMade Modern.
All you have to do is cut out and glue together the templates and seal the mould by painting it (we used some varnish, which worked really well).
Then pour in the melted wax and finally peel away the mould when the wax has dried. It really couldn’t be easier.
We love the way they all have slightly different shapes, but still go together really well. Surprisingly the edges of the wax are really sharp and much cleaner than we’d expected from just a paper mould.
Oh, and if you’re wondering about our slightly bizarre and unexciting colour choice – we’re planning on using the candles as part of our Halloween decorations for this year.
We’ll definitely be making some more colourful versions of these fab candles in future, though.
Head over to HomeMade Modern if you’d like to see what they really should look like! Have you ever made your own candles?
