Last week we told you about our difficulties trying to decide on a runner for the staircase. You can read about our staircase restoration here and more about our staircase carpet here.

Being lazing and indecisive as usual, we decided we’d just make you do all the hard work! And you certainly didn’t disappoint! We had almost 200 votes! Yep, you heard right!

Thank you all so much for voting! We still can’t get over the amazing response we had and are so grateful to every one of you!

It was unbelievably close for the whole week of voting and in the end there were only ONE vote between the top two! But enough of us rambling on, I’m sure you’re all eager to know the result!

So, now for the moment you’ve all been waiting for… (Insert drum roll here)…

The carpet with the least votes and therefore in 5th place is:

Noname

In 4th place is one of the more colourful options:

Mississippi

In 3rd place is this carpet:

Roxanne

The were just two votes between first and second place! The very worthy runner-up is:

Respect

And the winner is…

Rainbow

We’re really happy with your choice (we did like them all) and can’t wait to see it installed!

We’ve already mentioned that the final result was really close so we prepared this little infographic to show just how close it was!

What Would You Do? | Create infographics

Thank you all again so much for voting! It’s been amazing reading your comments and advice!

There are a few things we need to finish off before we can have the carpet installed, but we’ve already been to our local carpet shop and they will be coming round to measure up, soon!

    Hi!
I love your blog – our house is very similar and was in a terrible state when we bought it. We’ve been slowly doing it up – thought there’s still lots to do! I’m planning to do a veneer lampshade like yours.
I have a question about stair runners! Our stairs are currently painted but I’d love to get a runner, too. I’m just not sure what happens at the top of the stairs! What are you planning to do? Our landing goes off in various directions and has sanded wooden floorboards. I’d like to leave them as they are, just add some rugs. So how do you plan to finish your runner at the top of the stairs? Will it finish on the last riser? Or on the last step? I find it really hard to visualise! Thanks!

Thanks, Georgie! Basically it’s up to you where you’d like your runner to finish. Most either finish so that they cover the last step and butt up against the last riser, or you could have the carpet all the way up to the top of the last riser. We don’t have that problem, as we’re planning on having the carpet run all the way around the landing and then up the (still non-existent) stairs to the loft. We did get loads of advice from a local carpet shop and they had loads of images and samples to show us in magazines. If you’re having trouble imagining it, I’d definitely recommend do that, too. It really helped us visualise everything.

Wahoo! Every vote counts. :-) Can’t wait to see it installed and to walk (not skid) down it!
