For the first time ever, we spend the Christmas holidays at home. We took time out from all work & DIY and even the few projects that we’d planned on finishing stayed untouched. It was lovely, relaxing and peaceful.
This was also the first year where we didn’t spend the holidays with our families and, because we didn’t really see anyone, we more or less skipped the gift giving and receiving part, too. That said, we didn’t completely skip Christmas.
When we shared our Christmas decorations with you a few weeks ago, we already mentioned that we did the whole gift exchange thing in November when Jan’s parents visited us. So, as we’ve already been busy enjoying our gifts for over a month, it’s high-time that we share them with you, too.
Off Jan’s parents we got this Nespresso coffee machine and some cake forks (to complete our set of 12)
Nespresso has a great choice of different coffees in pretty little capsules that are perfect for the odd cup of coffee.
My sister and family made this wonderful handmade calendar with pictures of them and my gorgeous little nephews.
The same as last year, we decided to buy ourselves one special gift together. Last year it was our amazing Eames lounge chair. This year, we decided to go for something special, too. Annoyingly (although they were ordered in November) our gifts to each other haven’t arrived yet and it now looks like it’s going to be late February at the earliest. Boo.
We should probably give you a quick warning before showing you our next gift as it will probably cause the ultimate dose of jealousy! Take a look at this amazing bucket of deliciousness that we received off our friends Claire and Terry, with whom we spent Christmas day.
Isn’t it amazing?! Just take a look at all of the detail! Claire not only made all of the incredible labelling and tags, but she even made the shortbread in the can! As you can probably already guess, it’s the best shortbread we’ve ever had, too!
Amongst a bunch of Christmas cards that we received, this year we were also sent these two beautiful handmade cards.
Aren’t they pretty? Thank you so much to my nephew Denny for making the Gingerbread Man card and to Sarah for making the pretty snowflake card. They took pride of place throughout the holidays.
Thank you so much to everyone for your generous gifts!
How did you spend the holidays? Did you spend it with loads of friends and family, or did you have a more relaxed and quiet Christmas? Did receive any special gifts or cards?
